It is believed that Parasurama divided Kerala after its creation, into
64 villages. Later he established 108 Shiva temples and 108 Durga
temples and by his orders a group of Brahmins from other parts of India
came to Kerala and settled here. They established the existing temples
that we see today. Temples are the nerves of Indian culture.
